The City is home to a plethora of
Asian cuisine throughout its streets and arcades ... From dumping and
teppanyaki connoisseurs, to Vietnamese, Korean, and Chinese eateries,
The City has it all.
Chinese – China City, Queen St
China
City is a favourite amongst Brisbane locals that serves up some of
Brisbane's best traditional Yum Cha every day, plus a great seafood a la
carte Chinese dinner menu. It's super handy too, right in the heart of
the Queen Street Mall.
Dumplings – Steamed, Turbot St
This
new dumpling bar has just popped up on Turbot Street. The dumplings are
patiently stuffed and hundreds of dumplings are pleated in the steamy
kitchen out back. They come in three types; 'Harbin', pork and chive;
`Lovabull', beef with various spices that "lack English names"; a
vegetarian version called 'Zen' named after the owner Kevin's mother, a
zen buddhist, as well as 'Pork Clouds'- wonderfully light and fluffy
pork buns.
Japanese - Sake, Eagle St Pier
Saké
serves up contemporary Japanese fare created by sushi master Shaun
Presland, who draws on authentic Japanese training to present an
outstanding mix of new-style sushi and classic dishes. Japanese culture
is all about precision, organisation and respect. This is certainly true
of the food produced at renowned restaurant Sake where each dish is
sculpted into a tiny work of art – intricately perfect in its display
and taste.
Korean – Madtongsan II, Elizabeth St
Rumoured
as Brisbane's best Korean, Madtongsan II is the big sister to the
smaller Madtongsan; a long-standing favourite in the Elizabeth
Arcade. Enjoy one of their famous soups, stirfrys or hot pots with
complimentary sides of kimchi, sweet potato and pasta salad.
Rice Paper Rolls - NamNam, Adelaide St
Recently
opened on Adelaide St, NamNam serves delicious Vietnamese rice paper
rolls packed with flavour and crunch. Serving delicious options like
Peking Duck, Prawn and Pork, Avocado, Coconut Chicken and Beef, plus
your choice of delicious traditional sauces. Not only are they tasty,
these rice paper rolls are fresh and healthy for you to enjoy.
Asian – Peony Asian Fusion, Albert St
This
fusion restaurant gained instant recognition for its unique take on
modern Asian cuisine. Equal parts sushi bar, yum cha house and street
food vendor, Peony offers something for everyone. If the mood strikes
you, you can indulge in some delicate sashimi, comforting yum cha,
fragrant pad thai or warming pho all in the one meal.
Vietnamese - AJ Vietnamese Noodle House, Charlotte St

Vietnamese delights. This casual eatery pleases with its plethora of
noodle options, from vermicelli to handmade and everything in between.
The menu boasts hearty and refreshing broths, such as pho, and handmade
noodles served with spicy accompaniments such as stir-fried pork and
beef.
Ramen - Taro's Ramen Cafe, Adelaide St
Taro's
philosophy is to deliver the safest and the most delicious bowl of
ramen ever to Australia. That's a big call but they do deliver. Taro
trusts his sense and taste more than anything when it comes to selecting
ingredients. And the ramens contain no MSG or preservatives and only
the best natural ingredients are selected.
Teppanyaki - Kabuki, Stamford Plaza Hotel
"Teppanyaki"
is a style of cooking in which the chef prepares prime cuts of beef,
chicken and seafood together with fresh seasonable vegetables in front
you and cooks by grilling on a large steel hotplate. Located in the Stamford Plaza,
Kabuki’s master chefs will amaze you with their skill as they slice,
dice, juggle, and entertain you. Bring along a group of friends for a
unique culinary and cultural experience you won’t forget. Just watch out
for the flying food!
