California Design Exhibition Brisbane
Another great reason to visit Brisbane this summer 2013! Things to do and see in Brisbane.California Design 1930–1965: Living in a Modern Way' is the first major study of California’s role in shaping international material culture, organised by Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
This exhibition reveals the iconic designs that emerged in mid-20th century California, from the innovative furniture of Charles and Ray Eames to the original Barbie doll and the classic symbol of the casual western lifestyle, Levis 501 Jeans.
Major innovations in materials and mass produced goods as well as the strong tradition of the Californian ‘designer-craftsman are conveyed through more than 250 objects encompassing furniture, ceramics, metalwork, fashion and textiles, architecture, industrial design, and graphics.
