Childrens Art Centre GOMA - April School Holiday Ideas

The QAGOMA Children's Art Centre is a leader in developing interactive projects, activities and publications for children and families.

Through collaboration with artists, the Children's Art Centre helps children engage with contemporary cultures and experience the many ways artists approach their work. Since 1998, the Gallery has worked with more than 170 Australian and international contemporary artists including Tony Albert (Australia), Pierre Bismuth (France), Cai Guo-Qiang (China/USA), Bharti Kher (UK/ India), Yayoi Kusama (Japan), Yoshitomo Nara (Japan), Eko Nugroho (Indonesia), and Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian (Iran).

Major exhibitions featuring commissioned artist projects for children include the 'Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art' series (since 1999), 'Contemporary Australia: Optimism' (2008), 'The China Project' (2009) and '21st Century: Art in the First Decade' (2010). The Children's Art Centre also profiles the work of contemporary Australian artists through a dedicated annual exhibition program, to date this series included Anne Wallace's 'Release the Bats' (2009), Callum Morton's 'Ghost World' (2010), Pip & Pop's 'we miss you magic land!' (2011) and Fiona Hall's 'Fly Away Home' (2012).

The Children's Art Centre is an initiative of the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art. It has a permanent physical home at the Gallery of Modern Art, and presents exhibitions and programs across the Gallery's two sites. The Children's Art Centre also presents an annual touring program throughout regional Queensland and an award-winning publishing program for young audiences.
