If an organised tour, adventure sport or riverside activity sound like your kind of holiday, then you’ll be spoilt for choice with a large number of sightseeing tours around the city - go by foot, bicycle, Segway, kayak or river boat cruises. You can even climb the iconic Story Bridge – one of only three bridge climbs in the world!

Parks, Playgrounds and Picnics
One of our favourites during spring is Roma Street Parklands bordering the CBD and Spring Hill, boasting some of the best examples of contemporary display gardens in Australia, come and see the vivid colour display. Next explore subtropical misty rainforests as you walk through lush ferns or from above on a tree top walk at The Rainforest and Fern Gully centre.The Lake Precinct is popular for picnics and duck watching while the Upper Parkland offers great recreation areas with a children’s playground and the amphitheatre seating 1200 people, a popular host location for music and theatre events.
You can also meet a volunteer guide at The Hub daily at 11am and 1pm for a free one-hour guided walk of the parklands.
South Bank features a sprawling 17 hectares of parklands, adjacent to the river. The entire family can enjoy swimming in the man-made ‘Streets Beach’,
or splash in the water play area for the younger kids.
Children will enjoy hours of fun at the Picnic Island Playground and the Riverside Green Playground.
For more land based activities and free family activities there’s lots of parklands including City Botanical Gardens, Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens plus lots of extra places to discover in the great outdoors in Brisbane.
Views, Sunrises and Sunsets
For incredible early morning or evening views across the river and city head up to Kangaroo Point Cliffs. There’s also a great picnic spot at Kangaroo Point Cliffs Park.
